I want to talk to you about my little Hand collection. For my new followers and people who only know me for my Silicone work this collection might seem a little bit out of the blue. However, I want to assure you this is my very very first collection I created back in 2012 as part of my Graduation Collection from Middlesex University. My very old and dear customers and friends will know this.
So here is how it all started – The starting point for this collection was phobia of darkness. It’s a quirky little fear I had myself for many years. I chose to finally face it and created a jewellery collection inspired by that haunting feeling of being trapped in the dark claustrophobic room and that scary feeling that someone is about to grab you with their hands. With the years going by I started to be less frightened of the darkness and even sometimes enjoyed it without having a panic attack (for a few minutes at the time before my imagination starts to run wild again). And so in 2014 the hand pieces slowly became a little bit more subtle, a little bit daintier. I started developing rings that wrap around the finger and hold pearls and later red garnets. There is a love feeling to them now, although they are still strong and have their own personality. I have lots of ideas for my little hands in the future as well. I want to incorporate them into my newest collection and combine it with my love for seaweeds, corals and all things water and nature. After all humans are part of the nature. Even though sometimes a very disruptive one. Photos below shows the evolution of the little hand – from the very first hand back in 2012 the last addition of 2016
